5 Peaks Trail Running Area 8
The event takes place at Area 8 Conservation Area on Saturday, July 18. The site was a limestone quarry from the late 1950s to the mid 1990s and has been converted into a natural area set into the escarpment, with trails running along the outer edge.
Race distances include:
- Kid's 1 km
- Kid's 3 km
- Sport Run or Hike, 8.1 km
- Enduro Run or Hike, 16.2 km
- Grit Run, 24.2 km
Maps, elevation profiles and aid station locations are provided for each distance. Race distances and maps may change based on trail conditions up to race day.
Course rules and services: no dogs, no headphones, no strollers or baby joggers, and no nordic walking poles on the course. The event is cup free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start and finish and at one or more aid stations depending on the venue. Participants expecting to be out longer than an hour should carry a receptacle for liquids and nutrition.
Practical details: washroom facilities are available at the start and finish area. Parking is near the start and finish. Park admission is added to registration fees; participants are admitted to the park at no extra charge on race day. Spectators must pay the park entrance fee on arrival.
Awards: medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender and age category for each distance, and to the top three male and female finishers overall. All awards must be picked up at the race and will not be mailed.
