The FIG : Adventure Race, Red River Gorge, KY
The FIG is an adventure race held in the Red River Gorge area near Slade, Kentucky on November 7, 2026. The event is USARA sanctioned, which indicates it follows the safety and organizational standards of the United States Adventure Racing Association. Entrants may compete solo or as teams.
Competitors navigate an unmarked course without a prescribed route, traveling by foot, bike, and boat to locate checkpoints. The event currently lists a 12 hour cutoff with a possible 24 hour option under consideration. The course is described as strategically designed to reward route choices and navigation skills.
Registration includes FIG-branded swag, waterproof maps with an option to add extra mapsets, a well-marked course, deliberately placed checkpoints, and a post-race meal. Pricing and exact 2026 swag items will be announced when registration opens. Gear staging is organized the day before the race and on the morning of the race, and staff are present at put-in and takeout locations for paddling sections.
The race follows standardized rules and required gear consistent with USARA guidance. Past results are available for previous years, and the organizer provides racer communications with additional event details as plans develop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
