Event Details

The Ascent Red River Gorge 5K is a 5K trail run, walk, or hike event held at the Red River Gorge. It takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The start and finish point is the Natural Bridge Campground, located at 90 L&E Railroad Place in Slade, Kentucky.

Course & Location

The course is run on private property that is not normally open to the public. Participants will encounter serious trail climbs along the route, which features natural arches and scenic views. A time limit of 2.5 hours is provided to complete the course.

Race Features

Included features are a commemorative poly/cotton T-shirt (while supplies last), awards for the top three overall male and female finishers, and free race photos. Post-race activities include food, music, and fellowship.

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Natural Bridge Campground pavilion, with a last-chance pickup on race morning from 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM. The event has a cupless hydration policy; participants must bring their own water bottle to refill from coolers provided at the start and along the course.

Registration

Online registration costs $25 and opens on March 17, 2026. It remains open online until midnight on the Friday before the race. There is no race day registration.
