Overview

The Fellsman Dart is a point-to-point ultra-marathon event in the Yorkshire Dales. It is described as a shorter version of the main Fellsman event. The route covers remote fells and moorland.

The Route

The course is 30 miles (approx. 48 km) long. It involves a total ascent of over 4,200 feet (approx. 1,280 meters). The path runs from Redshaw to Threshfield. There are 13 checkpoints along the route, which are a mix of hilltop and roadside locations.

Event Details

The event is organised by Keighley Scout Service Network and is run entirely by volunteers. A strict mandatory kit list is in place, and live tracking is used during the event. Roadside checkpoints provide hot and cold food and drinks, and there are options for special dietary requirements. Transport and accommodation are also arranged for entrants.

Participation and Navigation

The event tests navigational, physical, and mental fitness. Entrants are advised to be fit and experienced runners or walkers. While GPX files on GPS devices are allowed for navigation, carrying a map and compass—and knowing how to use them—is a mandatory requirement for emergencies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
