One Foot in the Gargrave Challenge Walk
One Foot in the Gargrave is a single-distance event taking place in North Yorkshire. Participants follow a circular route starting and finishing at Gargrave Village Hall in Skipton. The course covers a total distance of 23 miles through the terrain of Malhamdale.
The route passes through several local landmarks and areas, including:
- Kirkby Malham
- Street Gate
- Boss Moor
- Eshton
The event is open to both walkers and runners. All participants are required to complete the full distance within a 9-hour time limit. A specific cut-off point is enforced at Checkpoint 3, located at the 16.2-mile mark; participants who do not reach this station by 3 pm are required to retire from the course.
Participation is limited to a maximum of 200 entrants. Registration is available for members of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) and non-members. Due to the presence of livestock and agreements with local landowners, dogs are not permitted on the course.
Parking is available at the village hall on a limited basis, with additional parking located on Mark House Lane, approximately a five-minute walk from the start line. Marshals are positioned along the course to assist with direction and ensure the event proceeds without causing inconvenience to local residents.
