The FAB 5K - Event overview
The FAB 5K takes place on June 20, 2026 at Confederation Park, with start and finish at the Edgewater Pavilion, 680 Van Wagners Beach Rd, Hamilton, ON. Park entrance is free and a large free parking lot is available past the pavilion.
The event includes two distances:
- 1K fun run
- 5K run/walk
The course is mostly flat and runs along Lake Ontario on the Hamilton Beach Strip. The route description: from Edgewater Pavilion head about 100 m to the lake/path, turn right and follow to a turnaround just before the wooden bridge (approx. 1.2 km), return past Edgewater Pavilion to a second turnaround just past Barangas (approx. 2.4 km), then head back to Edgewater Pavilion (approx. 1.2 km) and 100 m into the pavilion to the finish.
The FAB 5K is a fundraiser for the Fit Active Beautiful Foundation. Funds support a free spring program for approximately 165 youth girls from Hamilton priority neighbourhoods. The program includes weekly sessions with volunteer coaches, training to complete a 5K, a new pair of running shoes, a training t-shirt, healthy snacks, a goal-setting journal, transportation and race entry.
Registration fees vary by date: early bird (prior to April 1, 2026) listed as 1K $25 and 5K $40; after April 1 listed as 1K $35 and 5K $50. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Participants who raise more than $200 may have their registration fee reimbursed; higher fundraising thresholds qualify for prize draws and team incentives.
