Overview
The Dryer Triathlon is a multisport event in Katy, Texas, centered at the Katy Beer Garden. The event limits participation to 550 athletes and includes various formats.
Events and Distances
The event schedule lists multiple options:
- The Dryer Sprint Triathlon: a 300m pool swim, 12.9 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- The Dryer Sprint Duathlon: a 0.5 mile run, 12.9 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
- The Dryer Sprint Aquabike: a 300m swim and 12.9 mile bike.
- There are also specific triathlon categories for participants aged 17 & under, military members, Athena (165lbs & over) and Clydesdale (220lbs & over) weight divisions, and relay teams (all-male, all-female, and mixed).
Course and Logistics
The sprint triathlon begins with a "snake swim" in the pool at the Katy Natatorium. The transition area is also located there. Athletes park at the Katy High School Natatorium, and a shuttle is provided back to the transition area. The bike and run legs conclude back at the Katy Beer Garden.
Additional Information
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, requiring a membership for each participant. All athletes receive a finisher's medal and an event shirt if registered before the order deadline. Awards are given to overall and masters winners, top three in standard age groups, weight divisions, and relay categories.
