The Drop - Liverpool
The Drop is a navigation challenge based at Liverpool Watersports Centre. Participants are taken to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre without markers or route instructions. The event removes reassurance and requires independent decision making.
Distances offered:
- 15 miles measured as the crow flies.
- 10 miles measured as the crow flies.
- 6 miles measured as the crow flies, open to non-locals only.
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. Each person receives a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration of the event. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; participants do not know their drop location or facing direction until blindfolds are removed. When blindfolds come off, time starts and participants proceed on foot only.
Rules include no GPS unless a device is sealed in the emergency bag, no unauthorised maps, no transport, and disqualification for breaking the emergency bag seal. Distances are measured as the crow flies and actual routes will be longer.
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional feature for convenience and safety. Trackers must be returned after the event or a replacement fee applies. Travel notes mention parking and nearby rail and bus links to the event centre. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
