The Derby 50K, Ellerbe NC : November 28, 2026
The Derby 50K is a 31.5-mile event run as three loops of rolling hills on a mix of asphalt and dirt. The course starts and finishes in front of the Derby Community Building and is run counter-clockwise facing traffic. Turns and some straights are marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway and with posted signs; participants are responsible for following the markings. The course is not closed to traffic.
Registration opens July 6, 2026 and ends November 25 or when the event reaches capacity. Entries are first come first serve; there is no race day registration and no wait list. Race numbers serve as the packet and as the ticket for the postrace meal and can be picked up at the Derby Community Building, 1647 Jones Springs Church Road, Ellerbe.
A spaghetti lunch is provided to runners at no charge and is also available to the public for a fee. The meal includes salad, a drink, cakes, banana pudding, and pies; a non-meat sauce option is available. Organizers request that entrants bring dog or cat food for Richmond County Operation Fix; a donation van will be onsite. Camping is permitted on the community building grounds. All finishers receive a custom 4x4 inch medal; additional awards are given to overall and Richmond County top finishers.
