Tough Mutter
Tough Mutter is an obstacle course event for dogs and their owners held on Aske estate near Richmond, North Yorkshire, adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The event runs off-road across marsh, bog, woodland, hilly ground, tracks and fields.
Course choices:
- 10 km adult with one dog, minimum 53 obstacles, minimum age 16
- 5 km adult with one dog, minimum 38 obstacles, minimum age 12
- 10 km child no dog, age 16 to 18
- 5 km child no dog, age 12 to 18
Obstacles are marked to show whether they may be attempted with a dog, are for the runner only, or require a decision by the participant. Each obstacle includes a tie-up point so a dog can be secured while the owner completes the obstacle. Obstacles are numerous and multi-component, requiring climbing, jumping, wading, swinging and crawling.
Near the finish there is an 850 metre assault section across deep mud and water that includes 24 or more obstacles. Entry includes separate fees for adult and child categories and an additional fee for extra dogs. Children aged 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult when taking part.
