Tough Mutter
Tough Mutter is an obstacle course race for dogs and their owners. It takes place on October 25, 2026, at the Aske estate, a private estate near Richmond, North Yorkshire, located next to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
There are two distances available: a 5 km course with a minimum of 38 obstacles and a 10 km course with a minimum of 53 obstacles. Obstacles are marked to indicate which ones can be tackled with a dog, which ones are for the owner only, and which require a decision about the dog's participation. Each obstacle has a tie-up point to secure a dog while the owner completes it.
The off-road routes traverse varied terrain including marsh, bog, woodland, and rough hilly ground, interspersed with tracks and fields. The race concludes with an 850-meter assault course featuring deep mud, water, and over 24 obstacles. The obstacles are large, evenly spread, and often have multiple components requiring climbing, jumping, wading, swinging, and crawling.

- 10 km Adult + 1 dog (minimum age 18)
- 5 km Adult + 1 dog (minimum age 18)
- 10 km child (no dog) (ages 16-18)
- 5 km child (no dog) (ages 12-18)
Children aged 12-15 participating without a dog must be accompanied by an adult. An additional dog can be added for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
