Tough Mutter

Tough Mutter is an obstacle course race for dogs and owners held on Aske Estate just outside Richmond, North Yorkshire, next to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route is off road and runs through marsh, bog, woodland, rough hilly ground, tracks and fields, and finishes with an assault section of deep mud and water.

Distances and entry categories include:

• 10 km Adult + 1 dog - minimum age 18 years
• 5 km Adult + 1 dog - minimum age 18 years
• 10 km child no dog - 16 to 18 years old
• 5 km child no dog - 12 to 18 years old
• 10 km Adult no dog - minimum age 18 years
• 5 km Adult no dog - minimum age 18 years

Course specifics: the 5 km route has a minimum of 38 obstacles and the 10 km route has a minimum of 53 obstacles. Obstacles are marked to show those a competitor can do with their dog, those only the competitor should do, and those left to a competitor’s judgement. Each obstacle includes a tie up point to secure a dog while a person completes an obstacle. Obstacles are spread throughout the courses; many are large and have multiple components.
