Tough Mutter
Tough Mutter is an obstacle course race for dogs and their owners held at Aske estate near Richmond, North Yorkshire, adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Routes run off road through marsh, bog, woodland, rough hilly ground, tracks and fields.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The 5 km course includes a minimum of 38 obstacles and the 10 km course includes a minimum of 53 obstacles. Obstacles are marked to indicate whether they can be completed with a dog, are for the participant only, or allow the participant to decide. Each obstacle has a tie up point to secure a dog while the owner completes the element. Around the finish there is an 850 metre assault section of deep mud and water with more than 24 obstacles.
Obstacles are large and many have multiple components to climb, jump, wade, swing and crawl over and under. The event lists a general minimum age of 12 years. Course age rules include: 10 km Adult with one dog 18 years or older; 5 km Adult with one dog 18 years or older; 10 km child without dog 16 to 18 years old; 5 km child without dog 12 to 18 years old; 10 km Adult without dog 18 years or older; 5 km Adult without dog 18 years or older.
