Event overview

The Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail run held on 8 August 2026 near Holmesfield, Dronfield (S18 7WZ) on the edge of the Peak District. The route is just over 20 miles and the event is open to runners and fast walkers who can complete the course within a 6-hour cut-off. The minimum entry age is 18. Entry fees listed are £30 for UKA members and £32 for non-members.

Course and race services

The loop runs anticlockwise across hilly farmland, woodland and rural trails in the Cordwell and Linacre Valleys. Route conditions range from runnable trails and lanes to single-track trods. The course is marked on less obvious sections. GPX files and route notes are available on the race webpage and basic navigation skills are desirable.

There are two well stocked checkpoints on route and additional refreshments for finishers at Holmesfield Village Hall. All finishers receive a Cordwell Colossus medal. Prizes are awarded to the first male and first female finishers. Free car parking is available for participants in the village hall car park. Registration takes place at Holmesfield Village Hall.
