Cordwell Colossus
The Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail run near Holmesfield, Dronfield (S18 7WZ) on the eastern edge of the Peak District. The route is just over 20 miles and loops through the Cordwell and Linacre Valleys across undulating countryside, woodlands, paths and lanes.
Route conditions vary from runnable trails and lanes to single track and trods. The course is largely unmarked; a couple of trickier navigation sections are marked. Organisers provide route notes and GPX files. Participants may bring a paper map as backup for navigation.
There are two checkpoints with water and food, both sweet and savoury:
- CP1 Wigley at 7.5 miles
- CP2 The Peacock at Cutthorpe at 13.5 miles
A six hour time limit applies. There is medic cover on the course and at the race headquarters. Free car parking is available at Holmesfield Parish Hall. Every finisher receives a medal and there are prizes for the first male and first female finishers. The event is organised by First Light Adventure.
