Cordwell Colossus
The Cordwell Colossus is a summer trail race held on 8 August 2026 with base at Holmesfield Village Hall, Holmesfield, Dronfield S18 7WZ. The route runs across the Cordwell and Linacre Valleys in North East Derbyshire near the eastern edge of the Peak District. The course covers 20 mile over undulating countryside paths and trails.
Terrain on the route ranges from runnable trails and lanes to more involving single track and trods. The route is largely unmarked, with a couple of trickier navigation sections marked. Organisers provide route notes and GPX files and recommend carrying a paper map as backup.
There are two staffed checkpoints that provide water and both sweet and savoury food: CP1 at Wigley, about 7.5 miles, and CP2 at The Peacock at Cutthorpe, about 13.5 miles. A six hour time limit applies. Every finisher receives a medal and prizes are awarded to the first male and first female finishers. Registration takes place at Holmesfield Parish Hall where free car parking is available. Entry is limited to participants aged 18 or older and entry fees listed are UKA member £30.00 and non member £32.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
