Ricky's Race - Matlock Athletic Club
Ricky's Race is a local road/trail event held in Darley Dale near Matlock and organised by Matlock Athletic Club. The race headquarters and registration are based at Darley Dale Cricket Club. Runners move from the cricket club to the start via a short jog over the bridge.
The route includes a prominent hill close to the finish that gives views over the Derwent Valley. Marshals are positioned along the course to guide runners, and a tail runner monitors competitors who cannot complete the course; competitors must inform a marshal if they stop. The race uses a mass start format.
Parking is provided at the cricket club, with additional parking available about 600 metres away at DFS. Water is available at the finish area and at the cricket club. Runners are asked to provide their own safety pins. After the race, the cricket club hosts prize giving once age-category winners have finished and the club bar is open.
