The Coast Half Marathon & 10K
The Coast Half Marathon & 10K is an out-and-back running event based in the coastal village of Killough in County Down. The races start on the village green on Main Street.
The course follows a country road toward Rossglass. Runners taking part in the 10K turn back at Rossglass to finish in Killough. Runners in the Half Marathon continue along the coastline, passing the historic ruins of an ancient church and reaching St. John’s Point Lighthouse, the tallest onshore lighthouse in Ireland, before turning back. The route offers views of the Mourne Mountains, the sea, Minerstown Beach, and Tyrella Beach.
There are four water stations on the half marathon course and one on the 10K route at Rossglass. Toilet facilities are available near the start, at Rossglass, and at the Killough Community Centre.
Parking is available in the village. Pets and buggies are not permitted on the course.
The entry fee includes a finisher's medal, individual chip timing, a race number, and complimentary post-race refreshments. Race packs are posted to participants before the event. A prizegiving for the top three male and female finishers in each distance takes place on the village green. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
