The Coast Half Marathon and 10K

The event offers two road race distances along the County Down coast, starting from Killough village green and following the Main Street onto a country road toward Rossglass.

Distances:

  • 10K
  • Half marathon

10K runners follow the out-and-back route to just past Rossglass, where they turn back with views of the Mourne Mountains meeting the sea. Half marathon runners continue along the coastline to St Johns Point, passing the ruins of a church dated to 1170 and reaching St Johns Point Lighthouse (built in 1844 and described as the tallest onshore lighthouse in Ireland). The half marathon returns via a scenic main road past Minerstown Beach and toward Tyrella before a U-turn back to Killough village green.

Entry details include minimum ages of 15 for the 10K and 17 for the half marathon. Early entry fee levels are listed with later rates applying after the early-bird deadline; postal race packs are posted to entrants with an additional postal fee (3 for NI option, 4 for ROI option). The organiser has named Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke as event charity partner; entrants can make a voluntary donation at entry or register to fundraise for the charity and receive a free charity t-shirt.
