Castlewellan Christmas Cracker : 27 December 2025

The Castlewellan Christmas Cracker is a pairs team race organised by Newcastle AC. It takes place in and around Castlewellan, starting and finishing at Castlewellan GAC, 21 Circular Road, Castlewellan, Co Down, BT31 9ED. The course is approximately 8.5 miles, using roads, fields and forest tracks. There is a safety cut-off at about 4 miles. All finishers receive a medal. Cash prizes are awarded to the first three teams in Men, Women and Mixed categories. Additional cash prizes apply to the first team outside the top three in combined age categories 80-99, 100-119, 120-139 and 140+. Spot prizes are given for best fancy dress. Soup and rolls are provided after the race at the Community Centre opposite the GAA Club. No bottled water is provided at the finish.

Entry, rules and facilities

Entry is by online registration through SiEntries, with an entry limit of 750 teams and no entries on race day. Teams must consist of two runners who must cross the finish line together; each team receives race numbers labelled A and B and runner A carries a barcode used for results. All runners must be 16 or older on race date. No dogs, headphones or prams are allowed. Changing facilities and showers are available.
