The Cheap Marathon : Windham, NH (April 4, 2026)
The Cheap Marathon and Half Marathon take place on the Windham and Derry Rail Trail with an out-and-back layout: the half is one loop and the marathon is two loops. The course is described as flat and fast, with total elevation gain of 203 ft for the half and 406 ft for the marathon. USATF certification and Boston Qualifier status are in process for 2026.

The event uses a time trial start format with runners seeded fastest to slowest based on pace data collected at registration; athletes start two at a time and are assigned group and start numbers. Marathon entries have sold out for 2026 and a marathon waitlist is open; the half marathon is sold out with no waitlist. Tiered pricing begins at $26.21 and increases by set increments as registration fills.
Aid stations are placed roughly every 3 miles and supply water, Gatorade, and port-o-johns. Mile markers count down to the finish (marathon 26 to 1; half 12 to 1). The marathon has a course time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes. Post-race provisions include water, Gatorade, bananas, and yogurt. Every finisher receives a ribbon; top finishers receive digital awards by gender and five-year age group. Free race photos and finisher video links are provided after the event.
Parking and logistics include VIP parking at the start/finish location, general parking with shuttle service from Canobie Lake Park, and limited spectator locations at the start area and Windham Depot.
