The Cheap Marathon

The Cheap Marathon is a road running event held in Derry, New Hampshire on April 4, 2026. The event offers both a marathon and a half marathon on the Derry and Windham Rail Trail using an out and back layout. The half is one loop and the marathon is two loops of the same course. The course is described as flat and fast and is USATF certified (Half Marathon NH21002BK; Marathon NH21003BK). The marathon has a course time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes. Total elevation gain is listed as 263 feet for the half marathon and 526 feet for the marathon.

The event uses a time trial start format with athletes seeded fastest to slowest and started in assigned groups two at a time. There is no race day registration. Bib pick-up is organized at a retail location and at registration tents adjacent to the finish area in downtown Derry. Marathon parking is in downtown Derry municipal lots; guaranteed remote parking with shuttle bus service is available from a Park n Ride in Londonderry.

Aid stations are placed approximately every two miles and provide water, Gatorade, and Port O Johns. Post race refreshments include water, Gatorade, fresh bananas, and yogurt. Each finisher receives a ribbon. Free race photos and finisher videos are provided after the event. The marathon field is sold out and a waitlist is open; limited half marathon spots remain.
