THE CHASE DFW
THE CHASE is a trail race held in Cedar Hill, Texas at 1570 FM1382 on 03/27/2027. The event features a unique chase format in which every runner wears a bib with a tear tag and receives a 5-minute head start before the CLAW is released onto the course.
When the CLAW catches a runner, the CLAW removes that runner's tear tag. Runners who finish with their tag still attached are classified as having escaped the CLAW; runners who lose their tag are classified as clawed. Being caught does not end the race: runners hand over the tag and continue to the finish. Tags must remain visible on the back of the bib at all times or the runner faces disqualification. There will be one CLAW for each 150 runners and one CLAW for each distance.
Distances offered:
- 5K short, all-out sprint from the CLAW
- 15K longer hunt where the CLAW has more time to close the gap
All finishers receive THE CHASE Finisher Medal with either an ESCAPED THE CLAW or CLAWED attachment, and all participants receive a CHASE tee. The races are timed and 1st place male and female in each distance are decided by finish time. The course is trail terrain with dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation, and may include some pavement and gravel. Aid at the start/finish provides water, basic hydration, and snacks; this is a cupless event so runners should bring their own bottle or hydration system. Walking is allowed.
