The Blue 2 Blue Challenge : New Haven, CT

The Blue 2 Blue Challenge is a technical trail 50K held in New Haven, Connecticut, starting at West Rock Playground near 495 Blake St. The course is an out and back that follows blue-blazed trails, including the Regicides Trail and the Quinnipiac Trail, and finishes back at Amrhyn Field. The route uses the Westville Feeder Trail, climbs High Rock, summits Mt. Sanford near mile 12, and reaches a turnaround in Prospect where the dirt meets Cornwall Ave at about mile 16.4. Total distance is listed as approximately 32.8 miles and the course includes about 6,350 feet of climbing with much of the terrain described as highly technical rock and root sections.

Aid stations are placed at approximately miles 4, 8.1, 11.5, 16.4, 21, 24.5, and 28.5; the stations at miles 4 and 28.5 are water only. Runners receive one drop bag that is transported to the turnaround; the bag should be small, roughly shoebox size. There is a strict 10 hour overall cutoff and enforced cutoffs at the turnaround (mile 16 in 4.5 hours) and mile 24 in 7 hours. No pacers or crews are permitted and runners receiving outside aid may be disqualified.

Registration is managed by a waitlist. The organizer requires a recent qualifying trail 50K or a comparable technical race within the previous 12 months to be added from the waitlist. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
