About the race
The Big Superhero Run is a themed fun run on August 14, 2024, that starts at Richmond Olympic Oval and follows the Middle Arm Trail along the water. Distances offered include a kids 1 km and road/trail distances of 5 km and 10 km.
Registration details include early bird pricing, with base fees of $19 for the 1 km and $35 for the 5 km and 10 km. Discounts apply for group bundles of four or more and a reduced maximum fee for under 18s on the 5 km and 10 km. Registration packages include a personalised bib with a custom hero name, a finishers medal, a hero eye mask, a measured route, a water station, entertainment, and entry into door prize draws. A run kit mail out option is available for an additional fee; on-site kit pickup is scheduled the day before the event in the Richmond Olympic Oval foyer and requires ID or permission to collect for others.
The route uses gravel and trail pathways with mild inclines and runs beside the water with mountain views; participants may see flights taking off and landing at the nearby airport. The route must be completed within two hours. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome but should start in the final wave and be fitted for unpaved trails. The venue is accessible by local transit and bicycle; parking is available at the Oval. The event raises funds for the Richmond Hospital Foundation.
