The Phantom Run
The Phantom Run is a winter trail race on the North Shore near the Seymour River offering three distance options:
- 12K
- 19.5K
- 25K
All races start and finish at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve (Lynn Canyon parking lot) across from the filtration plant on Lillooet Road in North Vancouver. Courses combine groomed and technical singletrack, boardwalk through a marsh, bridges, many stairs, and sections with steep climbs and descents. The 12K, 19.5K and 25K routes share the first loop; the longer distances continue on additional trail loops through Lynn Headwaters and Varley areas.
Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, gels, chewable fuels, cookies and other snacks; first aid and hygiene supplies are available at every aid station. The 25K and 19.5K pass an aid station three times; the 12K passes one aid station. The course is marked with flagging, signs and marshals at key intersections. The event is cup-less so racers must carry a personal drinking container. There is no mandatory gear list, but organizers recommend carrying hydration, fuel and extra clothing. Poles may be used but not at the start for safety reasons. The course has an afternoon cutoff time. Registration fees include race bib, access to aid stations, finish-line food, swag and a finisher medal. The event collects non-perishable food for the local food bank and lists community fundraising partners. Awards are given to the top three by gender in each event.
