Disco Dash - S&O Beer Run
Disco Dash is a glow-filled night 5 km held at Pier Park on the New Westminster Quay. The event uses an out-and-back route along the Fraser River boardwalk that hugs the waterfront; the path is mostly flat with gentle curves and has a new start and finish location at the park next to the Bosa Towers.
Included for participants are a unique finisher’s medal, a swag bag, glow gear, professional timing on a measured 5 km course, and one beer with the race bib. A post-race celebration takes place in a nearby beer garden with a vinyl disco DJ, beverage and food available for purchase, and a post-race massage with proceeds donated to KidSport.
A free kids race is offered for children up to 11 years old; it is non-competitive, not timed, and runs out and back to the end of the pier. The event notes the reopening of the full Quay boardwalk and past fundraising that raised over $2,000 for KidSport New West.
On-site services include bag check near the start/finish (items left at the owner’s risk), water and a snack station at the finish, and first aid at the start/finish area. Race kits are available for pickup in advance at Steel & Oak Brewing Co. Paid parking is available steps from Pier Park and the site is a short walk from New Westminster and Columbia stations.
