MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 TAMPA

The MLK Jr. Freedom Run takes place at Courtney Campbell Trail in Tampa, Florida on January 16, 2027. The event offers in-person and virtual participation and includes multiple distance options for individual runners and families.

The event is organized in staggered, capped waves that are filled on a first-come, first-served basis; late arrivals may join the run upon arrival and coordinators remain on site for a period after the first wave. Timing is optional: there are no timing chips, and participants may use their own tracking apps to record results for posting. Results and certificates of completion are provided online.

Swag items are shipped to the registrant’s US mailing address and race bibs are provided on race day. Swag offerings include a running shirt, finisher’s towel or giveaway, finisher’s medal, and a digital training pack. A technical running shirt is available as an optional paid upgrade. Shirt shipments are scheduled for the week of the race; packet pickup is not required.

The event includes a virtual run option with a digital training pack and supports optional fundraising; the organizer donates one dollar per mile logged after the race to partnered charities. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also part of the event program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
