MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1 San Diego
The MLK Jr. Freedom Run is an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event scheduled for January 16, 2027 at Liberty Station, 2757 Dewey Rd, San Diego, CA 92106. The event is presented as a community run to honor the legacy of Dr. King and to connect participants through running and walking.

- Family 1 Mile (Registration $39.74)
- 5K (Registration $41.89)
- 10K (Registration $47.26)
- Half Marathon 13.1 (Registration $50.48)
- Virtual Run (Registration $41.89)
The event uses a capped, wave-based format; waves are filled on a first come, first serve basis and there is a virtual option or wait list when waves reach capacity. Timing is optional: participants may track time with personal apps and submit results for posting. No timing chips are used.
Participants receive mailed swag for U.S. addresses, with race bibs provided on race day. Typical swag includes a running T-shirt, finisher's towel or giveaway, finisher's medal, a digital training pack, online results and a certificate of completion. A technical running shirt upgrade is available for an additional fee. Shirts are shipped the week of the race; late registrants may receive shirts after the event.
The event includes invitations to local running clubs, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship options, and optional fundraising programs where each mile logged after the race results in a one dollar donation to partner charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
