Event overview
The Thankful Paws Turkey Trot takes place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, in Bonita, CA (4548 Sweetwater Rd, Rohr Park). The event includes the following distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- Dog Mile
- Kids 1 Mile Run (open to ages 1 - 14)
All finishers receive a medal. Proceeds will benefit Kanes K9s & Animal Rescue, a local nonprofit animal rescue organization.
Course, rules and logistics
The course runs alongside a golf course and community park. The 5K is one loop; the 10K is two loops of the same course. 5K participants may be on course while 10K runners complete a second loop; slower runners should be passed on the right. Runners with dogs may use an alternate trail inside the park.
The Dog Mile requires dogs to cross the finish line ahead of their owner or partner for a valid result. Hand-held leashes of about 3-5 ft are requested. Participants are advised to bring doggy bags and water for pets and to be mindful of other dogs.
Bib pickup is available on race day for registrations submitted on or after November 20. Registrations made before November 20 can pick up bibs in Chula Vista on November 23.
