Thankful Paws Turkey Trot
The Thankful Paws Turkey Trot is the second annual community running event on November 26, 2026, at Rohr Park in Bonita, Chula Vista. The course runs through the park and alongside a golf course.
Event distances include:
- 10K
- 5K
- Dog Mile
- Kids 1 Mile
The 5K is one loop around the course. The 10K is two loops; 10K participants may encounter 5K runners and walkers during the second loop. Runners and walkers with dogs in the 5K are asked to stay on the inside of the course. To pass 5K participants, 10K participants should pass on the right-hand side and around.
The Dog Mile is held as the first event and honors current and past pets. For the Dog Mile, dogs must be on a 3–5 foot leash. Participants are asked to bring doggy bags and water for their pets. All dogs will receive a finisher medal. For an official race result in the Dog Mile, a dog must cross the finish line ahead of its owner or handler. Dogs must remain on leash and be comfortable around people and other dogs.
The Kids 1 Mile is for children age 12 and under; parents may run with their children. All kids will receive a finisher medal.
A portion of event proceeds will benefit Kane's K9s & Animal Rescue, a local nonprofit rescue organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
