National Chocolate Day: Run for Chocolates
The National Chocolate Day: Run for Chocolates is a running event taking place in San Antonio at Olmos Basin Park. This event is designed as a small, private group run with a focus on a stress-free environment. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are permitted to join, though runners under 18 years old must be accompanied by a guardian.
The event offers several distance options for participants:
- 1 Mile
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 13.1 miles (Half-marathon)
A virtual run option is also available for those who prefer to complete their distance at a location of their choice. For the in-person event, waves are capped to maintain a small group setting. Timing is optional; there are no timing chips provided, but runners can track their own progress using various mobile applications or request assistance from on-site coordinators.
Participants receive a swag bag that includes a finisher's medal, a running t-shirt, and a finisher's towel or other giveaway item. The running shirts are shipped directly to the participant's provided US mailing address, typically arriving during the week of the race, while race bibs are distributed on the day of the event. The organizers also provide a digital training pack and an invitation to join local running associations.
The event also includes a charity component where the organizers donate to partnered charities based on miles logged by participants after the completion of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
