MLK Jr. Freedom Run 5K/10K/13.1
The MLK Jr. Freedom Run is an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day running event held at Piney Creek Hollow Park in Centennial, Colorado. The event gathers runners and walkers to mark the holiday and to recognize Dr. King’s legacy.
The event offers multiple participation options and uses capped start waves. Waves close when they fill; a virtual option and a wait list are available. Organizers describe this edition as a smaller, private group run with coordinators on site to support participants.
Timing is optional and there are no timing chips. Participants may track time with a personal app and submit results for online posting, or ask coordinators to help record times. Race bibs are provided on race day.
Swag is shipped to participants at their US mailing address and includes a running T-shirt, a finisher’s towel or giveaway, a finisher’s medal, and a digital training pack. A technical running shirt upgrade is available for an additional fee. Final race updates and course information are emailed before the event.
After the race, organizers report a program that donates $1 per mile logged to partner charities; fundraising participation is optional.
