Mile High United Way Turkey Trot
The Mile High United Way Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving Day run and community event held in Washington Park and organized by Mile High United Way. The event includes a main course that starts at South High School and a shorter family run linked to the finish village.
The event offers multiple distance options:
- 4-mile walk/run at Washington Park
- 1-mile Lil' Gobbler Family Fun Run, same start and finish lines
Participation has supported Mile High United Way programs; nearly 11,600 runners raised more than $770,000 to aid local families. Funds support high-quality early learning, education and workforce development opportunities for young adults, and basic needs assistance.
Event services and policies include advance packet pick-up at Fleet Feet Cherry Creek with an exterior entrance and parking validation, and the option to register on race day though shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed. Families can use a parent’s bib to enter children under 2 into the Lil' Gobbler Family Fun Zone. The Finish Village includes a Lil' Gobbler Family Fun Zone with games, face painting, photos with Gobbles the Turkey, and a nursing and changing station located next to the medical tent.
Well mannered dogs are welcome on a non-retractable leash no longer than 6 feet. Strollers, wagons and accessibility devices are allowed; bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not permitted. Medical personnel are on site and a post-race beer garden is available for attendees 21 and older with valid ID. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
