The Bay Aquathlon Series - Race 1
The Bay Aquathlon Series consists of three open water events held at Swansea Bay. This first race of the 2026 series takes place on a Tuesday in mid-June. Participants have the choice of competing in a single event or registering for the full three-race series. All events include an open water swim and a run, with the start line located on the beach adjacent to Secret's Bar and Kitchen.
The series offers three distinct distances to accommodate different experience levels:
- Sprint Distance: 750m open water swim followed by a 5 km run.
- Mini Sprint Distance: 400m open water swim followed by a 5 km run.
- Super Sprint Distance: 400m open water swim followed by a 3 km run.
The Sprint and Mini Sprint distances are open to participants aged 15 and over, while the Super Sprint distance is available to those aged 13 and over. Relay options are also available for all three distances.
The event logistics include a designated transition area and a mandatory race briefing before the start. An acclimatisation period is provided for swimmers before they enter the water. For those driving to the venue, the Recreation Ground Car Park is located within walking distance, and additional parking is available in the surrounding area where charges may apply.
