Event overview
The VOGUM 2026 is a 40-mile coastal running event on the Wales Coast Path. The route runs eastward from Porthcawl to Penarth through the Vale of Glamorgan and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The course passes golden beaches, cliffs, Ogmore Castle and a section with stepping stones. Organisers state there are no time limits for completion.
Route, support and logistics
There are four staffed checkpoints along the route. Checkpoints are described as stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seats, power banks and music. Organisers ask participants to advise any dietary requirements in advance so they can be accommodated. Entry includes a medal, post-race care, staffed checkpoints and event crew support.
A list of compulsory kit is published for all participants: appropriate footwear, a 1-litre water carrier, mobile phone, compass (phone version acceptable), a headlamp or other light source, a foil blanket, a waterproof jacket and a rucksack. An optional coach transfer from Penarth (finish) to Porthcawl (start) is offered; places must be reserved in advance and cannot be taken on the morning without prior notice. Organisers contact entrants by email before the event and may phone participants a few days beforehand with final details. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
