Event overview

The VOGUM 2026 is a 40-mile ultra running event on 6 June 2026 along the Wales Coast Path in the Vale of Glamorgan. The route runs from Porthcawl to Penarth and has a total elevation gain of 3,054 ft. Organisers state there are no time limits for participants.

Course and logistics

The course is described as 85% trail and 15% road, following coastal sections that include beaches, cliffs, the stepping stones and views of Ogmore Castle. There are four fully manned checkpoints stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music. Participants can note dietary requirements for checkpoint provision. A coach transfer is arranged between Penarth (finish) and Porthcawl (start) for race day logistics.

Kit and entry provisions

Mandatory kit includes appropriate footwear, a water carrier (1 litre), a mobile phone, a headlamp or other light source, a foil blanket, a waterproof jacket and a rucksack. Entry includes a Pegasus medal, post-race care, access to the staffed checkpoints and event crew support. Route files are provided via Plotaroute for download and navigation updates.
