The Amazing Northampton Run
The Amazing Northampton Run is a road running event based in central Northampton, with named locations including Market Square and Abington Street. The event offers multiple race formats that use a looped course through town and nearby green spaces.
Race distances and formats:
- Half Marathon: a loop starting in Market Square and returning there.
- Half Marathon Relay: the half-marathon distance divided into three legs for teams.
- 3 Mile Fun Run: a shorter event suitable for families and casual runners.
The half-marathon route runs downhill over South Bridge, follows the river past Sixfields stadium, Franklin’s Gardens and The County Ground, passes through three parks and the university campus, and returns to the town centre. Aid stations are positioned at approximately three mile intervals. Mile markers are displayed throughout the course.
Event services include pacers supporting a range of target finish times (1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00), a secure bag drop at the start/finish area, and a pre-race warm-up led by local fitness teams. Registration details note that posted race numbers arrive at least one week before the event and that relay team captains complete registration in advance. The race has a three hour cut-off time. Participants are invited to donate discarded warm clothing to the Northampton Hope Centre Charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
