Event Overview
The Aden Perry Hero Event Celebration of Life 5k is a chip-timed 5k run and walk. It takes place in Sunrise, Florida at Amerant Bank Arena.
Purpose and Activities
The event is a celebration of life to honor Aden Perry and his heroic act. It marks the start of the scholarship season for the Aden Perry Good Samaritan and Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization. The first college scholarship of the school year will be presented. An additional scholarship in honor of Ethan Lawrence will be awarded to the first place overall male and female runner in the 15-19 age group. The event collects school supplies for children in need.
Event Features
A variety of features and entertainment are planned. These include a pre-event stretch and warm-up session, a Girl Scout color guard, a live national anthem performance, and performances by a live band, an artist named XMGSMYTH, local high school students, and a live DJ. After the race, there will be refreshments, a candy bar, and snow cones. A CPR demonstration and training will be provided by a medical company.
Awards and Registration
All participants receive a custom finisher medal and a short sleeve dri-wick race shirt. Winner medals are given to top overall, masters, and age group finishers.
