Thanksgiving Day 5K Run & Family Stroll
The Thanksgiving Day 5K Run & Family Stroll is an annual community event held at the Aspiria Campus in Overland Park, Kansas. Now in its 36th year, the event features a various course options including a 5 km run and a stroll designed for families and their pets. A dedicated Kids Fun Run is also organized following the conclusion of the main distance.
Participants receive several event perks, including race-branded apparel. The post-race environment includes refreshments such as freshly baked doughnuts, coffee, and hot cocoa. For participants aged 21 and older, alcohol options like cider and beer are available.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation and WIN for KC, with proceeds supporting the attraction of major sporting events to the region. Additionally, the event partners with Operation Breakthrough to collect financial donations and essential items. These donations include food, hygiene products, children's books, and gently used children's clothing to support families in need.
