Thames Ring Series
The Thames Ring Series is a multi-distance trail event centred on Morrell Rooms, Streatley-on-Thames. The route forms an anti-clockwise loop along the River Thames, the Grand Union Canal and the Oxford Canal, mostly on canal and riverside towpaths and largely flat terrain.
Distances offered
- TR250 about 256 miles
- TR150 about 158 miles
- TR100 about 100 miles
Runners navigate using provided maps and .GPX files; final maps and GPX files are published shortly before the event. Checkpoints are placed roughly every 25 miles and the races have overall cutoffs: 100 hours for the full distance, 53 hours for the 150, and 34 hours for the 100. All entrants are tracked by GPS trackers that include an emergency SOS function.
Facilities include toilets and changing at the start and finish, indoor space at some checkpoints, sleeping tents at later checkpoints, and hot and cold food at many CPs. Drop bag rules: 250 and 150 runners may use one drop bag up to 20 kg transported to each checkpoint; 100 runners have a single drop bag accessible at Lower Heyford. Outside support and pacers are not permitted except at specified checkpoint locations. A compulsory kit list is enforced and will be checked at registration; required items include at least 1 litre of fluids, waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, sufficient food, a charged mobile phone and a headtorch of at least 100 lumens. Entrants must be 18 or older. Entry fees for 2026 are listed as £375 for TR250, £200 for TR150 and £150 for TR100. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
