Newbury Triathlon 2027
Newbury Velo is the event host from 2025. The first Newbury Triathlon took place in 1987. The 2027 event will be the 40th edition and is scheduled for 5 September 2027.
The race is a sprint triathlon made up of these legs:
- Swim: 300 m in the outdoor pool.
- Cycle: 22 km open road route through surrounding countryside.
- Run: 5 km along the Kennet and Avon Canal.
The event uses the newly refurbished outdoor swimming pool at Northcroft Leisure Centre in Newbury, Berkshire, with on-site parking on the adjacent field. The bike leg follows public roads through the local countryside and the run follows the towpath alongside the canal. The leisure centre sits next to a public park with a playground; the centre also has a soft play area and an indoor pool, with availability that may vary.
Entries must be made in advance; on-the-day entry is not accepted. Entries close on 27 August 2027. Relay teams are permitted so that different people can take each leg. Female participation is above average at around 40% of entrants. A race pack is maintained and will be updated nearer the event. The refund schedule is: notification more than 8 weeks before the event returns 50% of the fee, notification 2 to 8 weeks returns 20%, and notification less than 2 weeks returns no fee.
