Newbury Triathlon
The Newbury Triathlon is a sprint-distance event hosted by Newbury Velo from 2025. The 2026 race is the 39th edition and is scheduled for 6 September 2026. The event uses the outdoor pool at Northcroft Leisure Centre in Newbury, Berkshire, and includes on-site parking on the adjacent field.
The course comprises a pool swim, a road cycle through the surrounding countryside, and a run along the Kennet and Avon Canal. The cycling leg makes use of an open road route. Distances are:
- 300 m swim
- 22 km cycle on open roads
- 5 km run along the canal
The event has historical roots dating back to 1987 and is described as one of the longer-running triathlons in the UK. Female participation is around 40 percent of entrants. The venue is family oriented, located next to a public park with an outdoor playground; the leisure centre also has a soft play area and an indoor swimming pool.
Entries must be made in advance; no on-the-day entries are accepted. Entry registrations close on 28 August 2026. A published refund policy applies: notification more than eight weeks before the event qualifies for a 50 percent refund; notification two to eight weeks before the event qualifies for a 20 percent refund; notification less than two weeks before the event does not qualify for a refund.
Official race photographers provide photos for viewing and download after the race; donations to the race charity are invited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
