Tempo Summer 5K Series
The Tempo Summer 5K Series is a three race midweek series held on Thursday evenings across May, June and July. Each event is a 5K road race staged from a different location in Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Race 1 at Tysoe uses a flat out-and-back road route between Tysoe and Oxhill. Race 2 at Pebworth is a circular road route that heads out on Long Marsden Road towards Dorsington and returns on Dorsington Road; this race will have a full road closure. Race 3 is based at Alscot Estate near Stratford-upon-Avon and is predominantly on road except for the final 600 m on trail that returns to the estate for the finish. Subject to permissions, all three races may have a full road closure.
Entries are available online and day entries will be offered unless the race limit of 250 entrants is reached. Entry fees are £23 for UKA club affiliated runners and £25 for non affiliated runners; a reduced rate is available when entering all three races together. The same race number is used for all races; numbers are collected on race day and registration/number collection opens from 5:15 pm.
Prizes are awarded to the first, second and third male and female finishers by gun time. Runners who complete all three races receive a Tempo Events Summer Series T shirt and the best placed male and female across all three races receive a series trophy.
There are no water stations on the routes. Gazebos will be available for baggage but are unmanned; toilets are provided at each location. As the races are on open roads, only bone conduction sports headphones are permitted under the event safety rules.
The series supports the Friends of Stratford Hospital, a local charity that provides equipment, services and comforts for patients and staff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
