On The Edge Middle Distance Triathlon : Park Farm, Compton Verney
On The Edge is a middle distance triathlon held at Park Farm in the Compton Verney hamlet of Warwickshire. The event is based around a Capability Brown designed lake and uses nearby country roads, meadows and woodlands for the bike and run legs. The transition area overlooks a grassy bowl and the finish is in parkland beside the tree-lined lake.
The race format comprises three standard middle distance legs:
- 1900 m swim in the Capability Brown designed lake, two laps, trickle start in pairs
- 90 km bike on mostly minor roads through Warwickshire; total elevation 888 m, climbs on Edge Hill escarpment
- 21.1 km run on tracks and trails around Park Farm; total elevation 238 m, mostly off road but firm underfoot
Course details note good road surfaces on the bike route and firm paths on the run so both road and trail shoes are acceptable. Signage is provided along bike and run routes and aid stations on both legs will offer water, sport drink options, gels and snacks; cola and water will be available at run stations. British Triathlon membership, either full or one-day, is required to compete. The event enforces standard cut-off times for each section and prohibits headphones in line with British Triathlon rules.
