The 13th Annual Tapping of the Great Pumpkin
The Tapping of the Great Pumpkin is an annual autumn sports event held in Spring House, Pennsylvania. Located at the Great Pumpkin Venue on Sumneytown Pike, the event features a variety of distances for runners and walkers of different ages. The event is a partnership involving Lower Gwynedd Township and Spring House Innovation Park, with proceeds benefiting Gwynedd Mercy University.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- 10k: A chip-timed running race.
- 5k: A chip-timed running race.
- 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk: A non-competitive and un-timed event.
- Lil' Pumpkin Kids Run: A distance of approximately 600 yards or 1/3 of a mile.
The event includes an after-party featuring food from local providers and beer from a regional brewery for participants aged 21 and over. Participants are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and a costume contest takes place following the races. An awards ceremony recognizes the top male and female overall winners, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 9 and under to 80-89.
Registered participants receive a long-sleeve shirt if registered by the specified deadline, a vanity bib with their name or nickname, and a finisher's medal. The venue is located within Lower Gwynedd Township, with the main registration tent serving as the hub for bib pick-up and information.
