About the race
The Tanker Trot is an annual 5K walk or run held on the flightline at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, and takes place before the Frontiers in Flight Air Show. The course runs alongside aircraft, air show setups, and the Thunderbirds, and participants receive early access to the air show area. The event format and rules include a one-hour course limit, a 500-runner cap, and open registration from May 1 through September 27; all runners and spectators must register by that deadline. Early bird registration is available for the first 200 entrants.
No refunds or cancellations are issued. Event amenities and logistics listed by the organizer include a premium event shirt included with registration, custom medals for winners, packet pickup with race bib and race materials, medical tents, and portable restrooms. Strollers are allowed. There are no water stations on course and shade is minimal, so participants should plan accordingly.
Vendors will be onsite and accept credit cards; no ATMs will be provided. Parking is organized in General Airshow Parking (Orange Lot at Cessna Field) and tailgating is not permitted. Security screening is required for all attendees; adults must present appropriate ID. A list of allowed and prohibited items is enforced; weapons, alcohol, drones, and large bags are among the items not permitted.
Awards are given to top finishers by age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
