Tanker Trot at McConnell AFB
The Tanker Trot is an annual community 5K walk or run held on the McConnell Air Force Base flightline in Wichita, Kansas. The course runs alongside aircraft and air show setups, including the Thunderbirds, giving participants a rare runway experience before the air show begins. The event supports Team McConnell initiatives; all proceeds benefit programs for Airmen and their families.
The event offers a race shirt with registration and medals for race winners. Early access to the air show is provided to participants. The first 200 runners received an early bird discount. The field is capped at 500 runners and there is a one hour course limit.
Course and onsite details note that strollers are welcome, there are no water stations on course, shade is minimal, medical tents are available, and portable restrooms are on site. Top three male and female finishers in each age group receive plaques. Vendors will offer food and accept credit cards; no ATMs will be available. Tailgating is not permitted.
Security screening and ID checks are required for entry. Allowed items include water in non glass containers, sunscreen, hearing protection, small bags under one cubic foot, phones, strollers, and medical devices. Prohibited items include weapons, alcohol, drones, coolers, tents, and large bags. Parking is directed to General Airshow Parking at Cessna Field.
