Tampa Bay 100
The Tampa Bay 100 is a point-to-point urban endurance tour that starts in Ybor City and finishes at Coffee Pot Park in St. Petersburg. The route travels around Tampa and then along the Gulf Coast, passing through Safety Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater and numerous beach towns along Gulf Boulevard. The course is presented as a nominal 100 miles with a total listed distance of about 102 miles and an elevation profile of roughly 1,165 feet gain and 1,218 feet loss.
The route showcases urban and coastal sights, including murals, historic buildings, waterfront parks, piers, bridges and several neighborhoods and city landmarks. Key segments include downtown Tampa and its Riverwalk, the Courtney Campbell Causeway, Philippe Park and the Pinellas Trail, Clearwater Beach and Pier 60, long stretches along Gulf Boulevard and beach towns such as Indian Rocks Beach and Madeira Beach, a Gulfport stop, and the final approach into St. Petersburg.
The event is organized as a self-guided endurance tour rather than a competitive race. Five staffed aid stations are located along the course at Courtney Campbell, Cooper’s Bayou, Dunedin, Indian Rocks Beach, and Gulfport; additional supplies caches appear between aid stations. Pacing is permitted with rules: pacers must be crew members, follow crew rules, use reflective gear and blinking lights at night, and may join a runner after the Courtney Campbell Causeway section; bicycles, scooters or skates are allowed for pacers if they obey local traffic laws and are not motorized.
Registered runners must carry mandatory items including a cell phone, the provided direction sheet, at least one water bottle (minimum 20 oz), a headlamp with spare batteries, visible reflective material and blinking lights for night running, and the CalTopo app with the course map.
