Tame the Tower Trail Challenge
The Third Annual Tame the Tower Trail Challenge is scheduled for December 12, 2026 in Lebanon, PA, at Clarence Schock Memorial Park Education Center, 3283 Pinch Road. The event uses the hiking trails around Mt. Gretna and emphasizes marked trail routes and community support.
Two trail distances are offered:
- 10 miles pink flags, about 1500 feet elevation gain
- 5 miles yellow flags, about 850 feet elevation gain
Both courses start and finish at the park education center. Courses will be marked with two colors of ground flags and the event will be professionally timed by Pretzel City Sports with results posted by that timing service. Parking will be available at Governor Dick Park on a first come first serve basis; when that lot is full, participants will be redirected to a Mount Gretna lot with a van service.
One hundred percent of race proceeds will be returned to the park for trail maintenance, park safety measures, and improvements to the education center. Past park projects funded by the event include a water fountain and a mud kitchen used by local children year round.
Awards include cash prizes for top overall male and female in each distance, plus recognition for top male and female finishers by age group. The race will take place rain or shine and registration is non refundable. Pets are not allowed on the race course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
