The Plowing Over Pumpkins Whoopie Pie 5k Run/Walk is an annual community event held in Denver, Pennsylvania. Now in its ninth year, the event takes place at Cocalico Eagle Stadium and features a flat course that travels through Lancaster County residential areas and farm country. Due to the level terrain, the route is suitable for participants using jogging strollers.
The event offers the following distance:
- 5 km
The race is professionally timed, and results are published online after the event. Participants are grouped into several age categories for awards, including 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Recognition is also given to the top overall male and female finishers.
Post-race amenities include refreshments such as pumpkin whoopie pies. Every participant receives a raffle ticket for door prizes, with the opportunity to earn additional tickets by donating new or gently used backpacks, duffel bags, or tote bags to an outreach program. The event is held regardless of weather conditions, including rain, sun, or snow. Proceeds from the run and walk benefit the American Cancer Society and 4 Girls On A Mission.
