Tamalpa Headlands 50K - August 15, 2026
The Tamalpa Headlands 50K is a single-loop ultramarathon held at Santos Meadows in Sausalito, California. The race was founded in 1998 and the 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The course covers approximately 6,500 feet of elevation gain and uses many Marin County trails, including Coastal, Miwok, Steep Ravine, Matt Davis and Dipsea.

The route combines fast fire road running, steep climbs, flowy singletrack and technical sections, with views of the Bay Area and the Pacific Ocean. Start and finish are located at Santos Meadows, just south of Muir Woods. Aid stations are positioned along the course at Rodeo Beach (mile 8.3), Tennessee Valley - East (mile 11.5), Highway 1 (mile 14.8), Cardiac first pass (mile 19.5), Stinson Beach (mile 24.1), Cardiac second pass (mile 27.7) and the Santos Meadows finish.
The event is part of the USATF Pacific Association Grand Prix for 2026 and will not serve as the 2026 USATF 50k Trail Championship. The title sponsor for 2026 is Arc'teryx, with a $10,000 podium purse. Registration closes on Tuesday, August 11 at 11:59 PM PT.
Race rules note that dogs are not allowed at Santos Meadows, numbers must be worn on the front and visible, the event is cup-free, and cutting switchbacks leads to disqualification. A 50% refund is available for withdrawals by June 30; no refunds, rollovers or exchanges after that date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
