2026 Angel Island Half Marathon & 10K
The 36th annual Angel Island Half Marathon & 10K takes place at Angel Island State Park in Belvedere Tiburon, California on August 29, 2026. The event uses a hilly loop trail that circumnavigates Angel Island and offers panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz Island, the East Bay, and Marin County.
Distances
- Half Marathon: two laps of the island loop.
- 10K: single lap around the island.
- Half Marathon Youth (6-17): same course category for youths.
- 10K Youth (6-17): same course category for youths.
The field is limited to 400 participants. Race pricing includes the ferry fee. A chartered ferry from the Tiburon ferry dock is required for athletes to reach the island; return ferries depart Angel Island hourly at 20 minutes past the hour with one exception at 12:20 PM. Parking in Tiburon is pay parking, typically $5–$20 per day.
Course details note a 3.5 hour cut-off for the half marathon and a requirement that half marathoners complete the first loop within 1 hour 30 minutes. The course is marked with orange ribbon. There are no aid stations on the course; aid will be available before the half marathon second loop and runners must check in at that aid location before starting the second loop. Participants receive a T-shirt; half marathon finishers receive medals and top three finishers in each age group receive personalized ribbons mailed after the event. Headphones and personal audio devices are not allowed on course due to narrow trails and safety concerns. Bib numbers are mailed beginning two weeks before the event; unreceived bibs may be picked up on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
