5K fundraiser and solidarity run in San Francisco
This event is a non-competitive 5K run and fundraiser organized by ICHRP NorCal and the Defend Negros Island Coalition. It takes place at Upper Great Highway and Lincoln Way in San Francisco on August 29, 2026. The activity is family friendly and pet friendly and is open to walking, running, and rolling.
Participants can choose from the following route options along the Great Highway:
- 1 mile
- 2 mile
- 5K
Registration is free with a suggested donation of $25 and a recommended fundraising goal of $100. Same day registration is possible. Registered participants receive a running bib, a Justice for Brandon zine, and Cordillera-inspired temporary tattoos.
The fundraiser is intended to raise awareness, support long term care for an environmental advocate, and extend solidarity to land defenders in the Philippines. The event description notes recent violence on Negros Island and dedicates this year’s run to victims of that incident.
Local organizations, community groups, and small businesses may support the event through volunteering, organizing teams, offering merchandise or refreshments, and publicizing the event to their networks. The event also includes an arrival and check in period, a community run or walk, and a post-run program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
