Take Flight 5k & 1 Mile Run
The event is held on Memorial Day weekend at the Greenville Downtown Airport, 21 Airport Road Ext., Greenville, SC 29607. It includes the following distances:

- 1 Mile
Registration for the events opens December 29, 2025 at 12:00am EST. Entry fees listed are $10 for the 5k and $5 for the 1 Mile. Strollers and walkers are allowed; pets are not allowed.
Logistics and awards
The event includes a small ceremony to honor fallen veterans, a parachute team jump in the national colors, and a missing comrade ceremony conducted by the Civil Air Patrol. The Greenville City Fire Department will run the one mile in full gear. Prizes are given between races. Packet pickup is scheduled on the days before the race and on race day.
For the 5k, awards include top 3 males and females overall and top 3 males and females in multiple age groups (0-9, 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80+). The 1 Mile race awards top 3 male and female overall and top 3 in youth age groups. All proceeds and fundraising support Runway Park maintenance and improvements.
