Event overview
The Take Flight event is an annual running event held on Memorial Day weekend at the Greenville Downtown Airport in Greenville, SC. The event includes two distances:

- 1 mile
This edition is described as the 12th annual Take Flight 5K and takes place on the airport runway. The route has been verified and a course map will be posted.
Race details
Entry fees listed in the event information are $10 for the 5k and $5 for the 1 mile. Costumes and competition are encouraged and official groups will be publicly recognized. Prizes are given out between races. Strollers and walkers are allowed; pets are not permitted.
The event includes a small ceremony to honor fallen veterans. The schedule notes a parachute jump by a Special Forces Association Parachute Team and a missing comrade ceremony conducted by the Civil Air Patrol. The Greenville City Fire Department is noted to run the one mile in full gear.
Packet pickup is available on the two days before the race and on race morning at the loop between Takeoff Minigolf and the Museum. Awards for the 5k include top three males and females overall and top three in age groups from 0-9 up to 80+. The 1 mile offers top three male and female overall awards and top three in youth categories. All proceeds support Runway Park maintenance and improvements.
