Take Flight 5k & 1 Mile Run
The Take Flight event is the 13th annual running at Greenville Downtown Airport in Greenville, SC. The program includes two distances:
- 5k
- 1 Mile Run
Runners use the airport runway as the course surface. Costumes and formal competition are encouraged, and official groups will be publicly recognized. Prizes are distributed between races. Strollers and walkers are permitted; pets are not allowed.
A small ceremony to honor fallen veterans takes place prior to the races. The Civil Air Patrol will conduct a missing comrade ceremony. The event organizers will coordinate additional ceremony participants.
Packet pickup is scheduled on Thursday, May 21, Friday, May 22, and on race day at the loop between Takeoff Minigolf and the Museum. The verified course route will be posted before the event. Awards for the 5k include top three male and female overall and top three in multiple age groups ranging from 0-9 up to 80+. The 1 Mile awards include top three overall male and female and top three in youth age groups 1-9, 10-12, 13-16, and 17-19.
