Take Flight 5k & 1 Mile Run
The 13th Annual Take Flight 5k and 1 Mile Run take place on May 23, 2026 at the Greenville Downtown Airport runway, 21 Airport Road Ext., Greenville, SC 29607. The event offers races on the airport runway and notes that the route has been verified and will be posted.

Registration opens December 29, 2025 and closes January 29, 2026. Registration fees listed are $15.00 for the 5K and $10.00 for the 1 Mile. Packet pickup is scheduled Thursday May 21 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Friday May 22 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the loop between Takeoff Minigolf and the Museum. Packet pickup is also available Saturday May 23 from 6:30am to 7:45am. Late registration is available the morning of the event.
Organizers encourage costumes and competition. Strollers and walkers are allowed; pets are not allowed. A small ceremony to honor fallen veterans will take place prior to the races, and the Civil Air Patrol will conduct the missing comrade ceremony.
Awards for the 5K include top 3 males and females overall and top 3 in age groups 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The 1 Mile offers top 3 male and female overall and top 3 in age groups 1-9, 10-12, 13-16, and 17-19. All proceeds go to Runway Park maintenance and improvements.
