Tahoe 200 Trail Race
The Tahoe 200 is an ultramarathon trail race that takes place in California and Nevada. It explores the terrain around Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America. The route utilizes sections of the Tahoe Rim Trail and travels through the Desolation Wilderness, featuring single-track trails, aspen meadows, and high ridge lines with views of the basin.
The event follows an out-and-back course format starting from the Heavenly Stagecoach Lodge. The route covers various natural landscapes, including rock gardens, thick canopied forests, and small alpine lakes. It is a qualifying race for the Western States Endurance Run.
The event features a single distance:
- 200.2 miles with 36,857 feet of elevation gain and 36,857 feet of loss.
Participants are supported by 11 full aid stations and three dedicated sleep stations located along the course. Five of the aid stations allow for crew access. The race has a total time limit of 105 hours for completion. The event takes place on National Forest Lands, including the Eldorado National Forest.
Registration typically involves a lottery system. Due to forest mitigation work, the course is subject to evaluation by the Forest Service, which determines whether the event follows the out-and-back route or a loop course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
