Emerald Bay Trail Run
The Emerald Bay Trail Run is a point-to-point trail race that begins at Eagle Point, follows a route around Emerald Bay and up the Rubicon Trail into D.L. Bliss State Park, and finishes at Lester Beach. The course distance is approximately 7 miles (11 to 12 km).
The route is mostly single-track with moderate climbs and descents and includes somewhat technical sections with natural granite steps. Runners encounter multiple viewpoints of Lake Tahoe and nearby landmarks such as Fannette Island and the Nevada shore.
The event takes place within Emerald Bay State Park, a Registered Natural Landmark covering about 1,830 acres. The park shoreline includes roughly six miles of rocky and sandy beaches, and the local vegetation includes ponderosa and jeffrey pines, red and white fir, cedar, junipers, cottonwood, and gnarled sugar pines.
Race services listed for participants include an event T-shirt, a finishing medal, a free digital race photo, recovery snacks and cold beverages, medical staff, and a shuttle back to the start. Parking is available at Eagle Point Campground; a shuttle service transports participants from the finish at D.L. Bliss/Lester Beach back to the start. Alternative parking at D.L. Bliss is available for a fee and the shuttle vans carry about 20 people per trip. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
