Event overview
The Tacky Sweater 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for December 19, 2026, at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC (220 Lakewood Drive, 29607). Donations and race proceeds support the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. The course is a grass cross-country route made of wide, rolling trails and uses two loops of about 1.5 miles each. Chip timing with live results will be used and finishers receive a medal.
Logistics and race-day details
Registration shows a listed price of $10 (ages 1–17 listed at $15); the price increases after October 1, 2026. Packet pickup occurs on race morning one hour before the race at 220 Lakewood Drive and must be picked up by the registrant. Race-day registration is available on a phone until the race starts. Parking at the preserve is included in registration and is adjacent to the barn and finish area. There is no gear check; cars will be parked near the finish for access.
Water is not provided on course; water will be available at the finish and participants are asked to bring their own bottle. The event is cupless. Four portable toilets will be on site. Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash. Headphones are permitted.
Awards and extras
The event includes a tacky sweater contest with cash prizes for top entries, overall trophies for the top three male and female finishers, age-group medals for 1st–3rd in each age category, custom bibs, event giveaways, complimentary race photos, and admission to Lakewood Nature Preserve.
