Event
The Tacky Sweater 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for December 20, 2025 at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC. The event is part of the Upstate Race Series and its donations and race proceeds support the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. Standard registration is listed at $24, with a reduced youth price of $15 for ages 1–17; the price increases after November 1, 2025. Sponsorship and vendor registration is available for a fee.
Course and race details
The event uses a grass cross country course made of two loops of about 1.5 miles each. Chip timing with live results is provided. Each finisher receives a finisher medal and a custom race bib; other items listed include race stickers, event-themed giveaways, complimentary race photos, and free admission to Lakewood Nature Preserve for participants. Packet pickup begins one hour before the run. A tacky sweater contest awards cash prizes of $50, $25 and $10 for the top three; sweaters must be worn for the entire race and judging takes place at a post-race tent with spectator voting included. Awards include trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and age-group medals for first through third in multiple age categories from 0–9 up to 80+. Registration policies note transfers and distance changes are allowed, club and referral discounts apply, and refunds or deferrals are not offered except under a sell-out policy.
