Swinner Swagger
Swinner Swagger is a trail race held on 4 July 2026 in Muker with race HQ at Usha Gap Campsite, a short walk from the start. The advertised distance is 15.5km / 9.6m (roughly).
The course starts on the meadows north of Muker and follows the Hartlakes valley north to Kisdon Force near Keld. Runners cross the river by footbridge, pass Crackpot Hall, then climb Swinner Gill to a water station. The route then descends via a track down Gunnerside Gill to the village of Ivelet, joins the Pennine Way along the banks of the River Swale, and finishes near the Rampsholme footbridge.
Terrain includes upland tracks, single track, some shooting track and a short stretch of tarmac. A trail shoe is recommended. The highest parts of the route are exposed and often breezy; runners are asked to plan water and kit accordingly.
Mandatory kit includes taped-seam waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy bag, a cup or soft flask, a minimum of 500ml water and a fully charged mobile phone. Organisers may perform kit spot checks and failure to carry mandatory items can lead to disqualification. Aid stations provide water, Active Root, sweet and savoury food and a small supply of electrolyte drinks; no disposable cups are provided. Portable toilets are at the car park only. The event has an age limit of 16 and is limited to 100 entrants. All prices include a £1 donation to the National Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
