Swinner Swagger - Muker

Swinner Swagger is a fell and trail running event based at Usha Gap Campsite in Muker. The route is roughly 15.5 km (9.6 miles) and is a loop that starts from the meadows north of Muker, follows the Hartlakes valley to Kisdon Force near Keld, crosses the river by footbridge, passes Crackpot Hall, climbs Swinner Gill to a water station, descends via a track down Gunnerside Gill to Ivelet, then joins the Pennine Way along the River Swale and finishes near the Rampsholme footbridge. The course surface includes grassy paths, shooting tracks and a short tarmac section. Trail shoes are recommended.

Practical information

Race HQ and parking are at a field adjacent to Usha Gap Campsite; the start area is about 1.5 miles from the car park. Registration takes place in the parking field and organisers may perform kit spot checks; failing to have mandatory kit can lead to disqualification. The event is limited to 100 entrants and has a minimum age of 16. Entry fees include a £1 donation to the National Park; standard fees are £22 for affiliated runners and £24 for unaffiliated.

Mandatory kit includes taped seam waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy, a cup or soft flask, at least 500 ml of water, and a fully charged mobile phone. Aid stations will provide water, Active Root nutrition, sweet and savoury food and limited electrolyte drinks; organisers do not supply plastic cups.
