Swammie Shuffle 200 : Virginia Beach to Cape Hatteras
The Swammie Shuffle 200 is a fundraising 200 mile running event held on February 28, 2027, that starts in the Sandbridge Beach area of Virginia Beach, VA. The course is an out and back that goes more than 100 miles south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which serves as the turnaround point.
The course includes approximately the first and last 20 miles on beach terrain between Sandbridge, VA and Corolla, NC, with the middle sections on sidewalks and road shoulders through the Outer Banks. Runners will pass three lighthouses along the route: Corolla, Bodie Island, and Cape Hatteras. Wild horses in the Corolla area may be visible. Some stretches between towns have no stores for about 20 miles, and participants are responsible for their own sleep and logistics. Runners may not be transported in a moving vehicle; being in a stopped vehicle is permitted but participants may not be driven along the course or have the course marked by support crews.
The event does not provide course aid; volunteers are available to retrieve runners who cannot continue. A limited set of commemorative items will be offered to recognize completion. One hundred percent of funds raised will be divided between Awareness N Action and Mission22, organizations focused on veteran support and suicide prevention. Entry is limited to 30 in person participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
