Tacky Sweater 5K
The Tacky Sweater 5K is a holiday-themed event on a Saturday in December. It is the seventh annual edition.
The event has a 5K distance with two participation options: a live run/walk and a virtual run/walk.
The course starts and finishes in front of Smartmouth Brewery in the Chelsea District of Norfolk. The route loops around the West Ghent area and Plum Point Park, using part of the Elizabeth River Trail and going over the Mid-Town Tunnel.
All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. A festive post-race party takes place at Smartmouth Brewery, featuring food, entertainment, beer, awards, giveaways, and a tacky sweater contest. A Krampus parade is also part of the event.
Early packet pickup and registration are available on the Friday before the event at Smartmouth Brewery. Packet pickup and race-day registration are also available on-site.
The event raises money for EVMS Dermatology and the Dermatology Student Group in support of melanoma awareness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
